Comparison rarely ends with a simple observation of what is happening in other’s lives. It almost always builds into anger and resentment that they have something you want/need. One of the motivators behind these negative feelings is a thought that, “If they have that success it means I can’t have it.” We find ourselves cutting down other people’s trees to build our own forest.

The thought that God only has a certain amount of gifts and blessings to pass down to His people is completely ridiculous and against His Word. The God who created the entire earth from nothing can surely come up with enough to feed all of His children. The Bible tells us that God will generously provide all that we need and we will always have everything we need and plenty left over to share with others (2 Corinthians 9:8). That doesn’t sound like a God who is running short of things for His children.

But here is where we truly mess this up. We are scared that other’s success means we won’t find our own success – the problem is that we are defining the word ‘success’ wrongly. Success isn’t defined by the size of my kingdom – it’s defined by the size of God’s Kingdom. The more we focus on building ourselves up, the less we will actually succeed. The Bible calls us to this, “He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. (John 3:30)” _____________________

So here is today’s question: How are you becoming less and making more of Jesus in your life? Give one practical example of this in the comments below to encourage the I N S T A D E V O community.

Two college students sensed God’s calling to bring the powerful message of Christ through their gifts. One was gifted with lyrical writing and the other was gifted with graphic designing and music advertisement. They seeked God’s calling to produce a song. They didn’t know if God wanted them to do it. But God DID. He provided a recording studio for free within a couple hours of Jared writing the song. God’s fingerprint has been over the whole process. He’s ordained everything. Go listen to the song! Link in @jared.vardaman’s bio. We pray that the song blesses and encourages you to be closer to Christ! https://ift.tt/2sGUg2D
